We have also subscribed to the FA’ RESPECT Program, a program to address unacceptable behavior in football – on and off the pitch. The FA provides a completely free online course that is available to anybody. Everyone that completes the course and achieves the pass mark can immediately print off an accredited certificate directly from the website. To take this very informative course, please look at the left submenu and click on “The Respect Program.”

Parents and Youth Soccer

Parents play a vital role in youth soccer but are often the least informed stake holders. Most parents’ primary goal is to help their child enjoy his/her soccer experience and help them reach their potential. In addition to that, many parents help manage their child’s team and some even hold important positions at their youth club. Most board members and decision makers at youth clubs are parents.

COURSE #1: A FRESH APPROACH TO SOCCER PARENTING

This course introduces the parents to the scope of the courses and what they will learn. It demonstrates how to use and benefit from the courses and deals with a number of relevant parenting topics.

COURSE #2: PREPARING YOUR CHILD TO ENJOY PLAYING SOCCER COURSE

Cost: $9.99
This course is most appropriate for parents of U-6 through U-14 Recreational players. The key items covered are: Why kids play sport and why they quit sports; Realistic goals for beginner players; How to keep kids’ interest in soccer; How to judge a good program or camp for your child.

COURSE #3: HELPING YOUR CHILD COMPETE ENJOYABLY COURSE

This course is most appropriate for parents of U-8 to U-12 players who show enough talent and interest to consider joining a more competitive/serious program, such as the U-10/U-12 Academy Program, or parents of players who are already playing in an Academy program.
